The nation of Elvedon lies in the northwestern corner of Nordland. It is bordered to the south by the elven nation of Navanaith, to the east by the Drachen Mountains and the United Dwarven Kingdoms, and water to the north and west. Elvedon is a matriarchal monarchy, ruled by the women the Elvedon dynasty in an nearly unbroken line since the dawn of the Third Age. Currently, the reigning queen is Katarina Elvedon, who rules with her husband and consort, King Damion LaRothe. The political capital of the nation is Elvedon City, located along the southwestern coast.
Geographically, much of Elvedon is comprised of rolling plains broken by forested regions. The plains give way to hills, and eventually craggy mountains, to the north and to the east. Populated mainly by humans, Elvedon has a sizable non-human population as well. Elven and dwarven communities can be found along the southern and eastern borders, respectively, while gnomes and halflings can be found throughout Elvedon. Small enclaves of myriad other races can be found throughout the kingdom as well.
Elvedonians are a cosmopolitan and tolerant people, choosing by and large to judge an individual on his or her merits, rather than their race. They are also extremely comfortable with the use of arcane magic in all forms. Almost all of Elvedon’s noble families can trace their lineage through one or more sorcerous bloodline, and the kingdom’s schools for arcane learning are second to none in the Known Lands.
